Georges Groulx


George Groulx was born on June 26, 1922 in Montreal, Quebec. He performs his classical studies at the college Cgep de SaintLaurent, where he soon showed a strong interest in theater. He is noticed by Father mile Legault, a theatrical animator who had founded in 1937 the pioneering company Compagnons de SaintLaurent. In 1939, at the invitation of Father Legault and his sister Marguerite Groulx, first actress to join the cast, he joined the company. Initially assigned to various tasks, e. g. scenic painter, he soon participated in religious plays that belonged to the companys repertory, such as La Mort cheval by Henri Ghon. In 1941, having finished his classical studies, he studied one year at the cole du meuble de Montral and the following one at the Universit de Montral, where he graduated in 1943.
